STOP SMOKING

Quitting smoking can be a daunting task. We have set up this guide to give you all the information you need to say adios to the smokes and hello to vaping. Before we break it down, just know that we are with you every step of the way, this won’t be an easy journey for everyone but nothing good ever is!

5 Things Every New Vaper Must Know

1.

Not all vapes are the same and not all of them work for everyone

Ask any long-term vaper and they will tell you they have been through dozens of devices. We can almost guarantee that your first won’t be your last. Everyone has different tastes and preferred brands – much like you would do with cigarettes, so don’t be alarmed if the device you start with isn’t doing it for you. We recommend talking to the staff in your local vape shop for ideas on other kits.

2.

It isn’t always such a smooth journey

Chances are you have been smoking for years, so its normal to continue craving them even with a vape substitute, it might mean that you need to change something about your vape setup or just give it a little more time. We explain more about your options later on!

3.

Nicotine isn’t harmful, don’t cut it too early

We often see ex-smokers try to cut down their nicotine intake way too quickly and relapse because they aren’t getting the same experience. Nicotine is extremely addictive but isn’t the harmful compound in smoking, the combustion of tobacco is what causes cancers and other illnesses. When you stop craving a smoke, you can think about cutting nicotine down but we will cover this later.

4.

It’s normal to cough

A lot of people are put off by the fact the first few times they try vaping, they will cough a lot more from their initial inhales, don’t be alarmed. Vapour feels a lot thicker compared to cigarette smoke which can cause coughing due to the change of sensation, this will pass after a few days of vaping.

5.

Vaping isn’t smoking

The harder you drag on a cigarette, the more smoke you will inhale. This isn’t the case with vaping as nothing is actually lit to provide the vapour. We recommend longer steady puffs to ensure a better experience.

Breaking Down E-Cigarettes

What Are They?

“An e-cigarette is a device that allows you to inhale nicotine in a vapour rather than smoke.
E-cigarettes do not burn tobacco and do not produce tar or carbon monoxide, two of the most damaging elements in tobacco smoke.
They work by heating a liquid (called an e-liquid) that typically contains nicotine, propylene glycol, vegetable glycerine, and flavourings.
Using an e-cigarette is known as vaping.” – NHS

But What Do I Use?

Going in to a vape shop for the first time is a daunting experience due to the overwhelming amount of choice for devices and liquids. We will break it down for you here but we recommend you going in to your local vape shop and asking for more advice if you are still stumped, they may also stock our liquids so you can feel free to ask about those too!

The Different Types Of E-Cigarettes

Cigalike/disposables – These are the most basic forms of e-cigs and often look similar to a cigarette. They are very simple to use as they are often disposable, but this leads to higher costs than other vape options as well as a large environmental impact.

Pod systems – these are small rechargeable devices that generally look like USB sticks. They can come with either disposable pre-filled pods or a refillable e-liquid pod. They are very user friendly and low maintenance. These are ideal for beginners making a start in vaping as they replicate the sensation of smoking a lot more than mod systems.

Vape Mods – This is generally the largest option in terms of hardware, and they can come in varying shapes and sizes. Replaceable coils, refillable tank, and longer lasting batteries. These are generally more cost effective long term with a wider range of options for more advanced vapers.

E-Liquids and What To Choose

What Is An E-Liquid?

E-liquids, a.k.a vape juice, consist of 3-4 ingredients: Propylene Glycol (PG), Vegetable Glycerin (VG), flavouring, and nicotine if you chose it.

Vegetable Glycerin (VG) is a thicker liquid that is sweet in flavour. It is smoother to inhale than PG. It can also be found in a range of other products such as soap, caramel, and toothpaste.

Propylene Gycol (PG) is an odourless liquid used to replicate “throat hits” from smoking as well as helping carry the flavour of vape liquids. PG is often used as a flavour enhancer in products like ice cream.

Flavouring has four main different types; fruit, tobacco, sweets, and desserts – although there are a huge range of flavours available. The whole purpose of flavouring is to bring an enjoyable experience to users so pick flavours that you think you will like but don’t be afraid to experiment as we have the best mixologists in the UK helping us develop the flavours!

Nicotine is a completely optional ingredient and can be either added during manufacturing or by you at home with nicotine concentrates. There are two types of nicotine available, learn more below!

Which Nicotine Is Right For Me?

Freebase nicotine

  • Harsh at high doses
  • Cheaper in volume
  • Works better in high power device
  • Slower absorption rate
  • No extra additives

Nicotine salts (Nic salts)

  • Smooth at high doses
  • More expensive in volume
  • Perfect for pod devices
  • Absorbed a lot faster in to the bloodstream
  • Contains benzoic or citric acid

What Strength Nicotine Is Right For Me?

We offer a range of nicotine options from 3mg up to 20mg to suit all types of smokers and vapers.

20mg is the strongest and means you get 20mg of nicotine per 1ml of juice, this is generally a good starting point for heavy smokers looking to make the switch.

10mg is the most popular strength in the UK as it is readily available in salt form for almost every flavour and still delivers a good hit to the throat.

3mg is generally used for larger vapes and our shortfill options. It is perfect for those who have a lower nicotine intake or for hobbyist vapers.
